FAQ for Freshman of 2023 Spring semester

To All applicants of dormitory, You may concern about dormitory admission. Please check below FAQ for your information.
 
Call traffic will be increased during dorm application period. So phone call could not be available. Please check below summarized inquiry before you call us.
 
Detailed notice about 2023 spring semester will be uploaded at Dorm website on Jan 13th (Fri). You can also check news letter or posting about previous semester on website too.
 
Q. If I cancel the addmission of SKKU, dormitory will be canceled automatically? 
A. No. Even you cancel your addimission of SKKU, you need to proceed cancelation of dormitory separately. We recomment you cancel the dorm at GLS before cancel the addmission of SKKU.
If you already cancel the addmission, you can't cancel the dorm at GLS. In that case, Please call dorm office. 
 
Q. I am a graduate Freshman of 2023 spring semester who needs to stay at dorm for winter vacation, How can I do?
A. Dormitory application is proceed by GLS. And in order to login, you must have Student ID. Regarding student ID, You can ask administration office in each department.
 
 
f you can login at GLS, You can apply for dormitory waiting list. After approval and payment, You can check-in 2 days later from your approval date.
 
 
Check-in though waiting list is only available if there are vacancies. The last day of winter vacation waiting list application is Jan 30th. If you apply on Jan 30th, you can check-in on Feb 2nd.
 
Graduate Freshman (Master/Doctor/Combined Master&doctor) need to submit recommendation of academic advisor until check-in day. You can find recommendation form on dorm website.
And also required to submit tuberculosis & Covid-19 negative result sheet. For more detail about documents submitting, Please check notice on website.
 
If you are undergraduate students of SKKU, and planning to enter graduate school, You need to apply for dorm as undergraduate student.
 
Q. I want to know the capacity of dorm residents.
A. SKKU dormitory in Suwon can accommodate 3,785 residents. This is the biggest amount among All dormitory in Korean university. competition rate in SKKU dorm is not too high. Is is maintained about 1.2:1 for every semester. (But capacity is reduced because of Covid-19)
 
Q. What is distance standard in order to admit?
A. We never consider the distance from school to your residence. All students who live in near school, Jeju island or even abroad can apply for dormitory.
 
Q. What do you consider when selecting freshman?
A. In case of freshman, They will be randomly selected by their preference only for 1st semester.
It doesn’t mean All freshman could be assigned at 1st preference. it means applicants of freshman could be assigned at 2nd~8th preference. If you not choose 2nd~8th preference, you will be randomly assigned which have vacancies.
 
Because of Covid-19, Capacity of dorm is reduced. Freshman will be selected maximum 35% of total capcity.
 
Q. What do you consider when selecting students who is not freshman?
A. From Fall semester of freshman, All residents all selected by GPA.
 
We never consider Grade or Department. We only consider your GPA & preference by Room type. So, Cut-off GPA for each dormitory & roomtype is all different for every semester. You can find previous cut-off point of GPA at Admission information.
 
Q. When/How can I apply for dormitory?
A. Please check below schedule. (schedule could be changed)
1st Application : Jan 26th (Thu) 11:00 ~ Jan 30th (Mon) 23:00
1st Announcement : Feb 3rd (Fri) 11:00
1st Payment : Feb 3rd (Fri) 11:00 ~ Feb 6th (Mon) 23:00
Room announcement : Feb 16th (Thu) 17:00
 
2nd Application : Feb 7th (Tue) 11:00 ~ Feb 9th (Thu) 23:00
2nd Announcement : Feb 14th (Tue) 11:00
2nd Payment : Feb 14th (Tue) 11:00 ~ Feb 15th (Wed) 23:00
Room announcement : Feb 16th (Thu) 17:00
 
Check-in : You need to select from Feb 17th (Fri) to Feb 25th (Sat) (Dorm fee will be change depend on check-in day)
 
We will select 100% of resident at 1st & 2nd selection. If there is vacancy because of cancellation, Waiting list of vacancy will open after regular check-in day.
Regular dorm application is not first-come fist-serve system. So You don’t need to apply earlier. you just apply on time.
Dorm application is only available on GLS. regarding how to apply by GLS, Please check notice on Website from Jan 13th.
 
Q. How can I arrange the payment?
A. You can find your dorm fee and print invoice at GLS. You can pay your dorm fee by single use bank account which is on your invoice.
Monthly payment or credit card is not available.
 
Q. I want to know dorm fee.
A. Dorm fee is calculated per day and you need to pay dorm fee of whole semester at once. Dorm fee is variable by each roomtype & meal plan. Please check admission information about detailed dorm fee.
 
*Deposit will be refund after your check-out if there is no problem in room.
(?50,000 for Shin-kwan, ?30,000 for In/Ui/Ye/Ji-kwan)
 
Q. Curfew & Stay out overnight?
There is Curfew from 01:00~05:00. Only for Undergraduate students. No curfew on Weekend.
You are free to stay out overnight. But If you stay out more than 5days, You need to register your stay out plan on GLS.
*It could be changeable depend on Covid-19 status.
 
Q. How about dorm facility?
You can find picture of room, facility etc on website.
 
Q. Is Dorm more expensive than other accommodation near school?
We can’t inform about other accommodation but Dormitory. Please contact real estate agency.
