DORMITORY (SUWON)

All the dormitory lounges were improved during the winter break.

First and foremost, the doors made it difficult to check inside, and was not soundproof, so they have been replaced with a tempered glass door, so anyone can see where the lounges are and whether they are in use.

Besides this, some furniture has been replaced in each building. Let's see the details...

■In-gwan

Before

Previously, it was spacious, but because of the old TV, creaking chairs and unused desks, the space wasn't used efficiently.

Wouldn't anyone feel awkward sitting next to someone drinking something while they try to watch TV?

After

The walls have been painted a fresh green, and small round tables and several chairs have been added so that many people can use the room simultaneously.

Furthermore, a shelf has been put on the wall so you can use a hair dryer, and a vanity desk has been installed.

In the 4-people suites, doesn't the small shower room make it difficult to use the hair dryer if a roommate is sleeping?

Now you can use the lounge! (You'll need an extension cable.)

■Ui-gwan

Before

It used to be difficult to determine whether it was a storeroom or a lounge.

After

Sofas have been put in the 2nd floor (female) and 3rd floor (male) lounges.

Since Ui-gwan is for graduate students, the lounge truly serves as a facility for taking a break, so it has been changed to a comfortable place to watch TV and chat with friends.

■Ye-gwan

Before

Ye-gwan's space is small, and there was a big desk, so the space usage was inefficient.

After

As in In-gwan, the 1st, 3rd and 5th-floors have been changed to spaces in which you can chat with friends like in a café.

Necessary fittings such as mirrors and vanity desks are standing-type, so they can be used on the way in or out.

Ye-gwan didn't have a separate reading room, so during exam times there was some awkwardness between those who wanted to study and those who wanted to eat.

Therefore, the 2nd and 4th floors have changed to reading rooms.

Please do not graffiti or use a knife on the desks.

■Ji-gwan

Before

There was a lounge at both ends of the building.

There was only one desk, and the TV was small and old.

After

In the eastern lounge, a TV has been mounted on the wall.

As in other lounges, many small tables have been installed, so many people can use the room at once.

The western lounge was spacious, but it was used for the same purpose as the eastern lounge, and there were some complaints between resting and studying students.

Therefore, the sink has been removed from the spacious western room, which has been turned into a reading room.

The desks may be combined in various shapes when studying together with friends.

When no-one else is using the room to study, you can use it to discuss things such as group projects with your partners.

■Shin-gwan

There were no big changes in Sin-gwan, but as with other buildings, wobbly tables were replaced with sturdy round ones.

Please keep the newly-refurbished lounge and reading room clean so they can be used for their purposes!
