Can I use the dormitory in my gap year?

Students having a gap year cannot apply to live in the dormitory during that time. If you are having a gap year, you must leave the dormitory within a week of the start of the gap year. However, students on a gap year may apply during vacations.

Can I get a cash receipt?

The dormitory price is subject to neither income tax deduction nor tax refunds, so a cash receipt would not be of any use. Therefore, the dormitory does not issue cash receipts, but can issue a confirmation of payment. This can be done when you send the dormitory fee from a bank or ATM by requesting a form confirming that the money has been sent.

· Required time
After payment, the deposit and refund will be transferred to the accounting office, so it will take about 3 weeks from the application date (not including holidays). In the event of your failure or mistake in registering a refund account, the refund may be delayed or go missing. In this case, it will take a long time before the refund can be received.

What are the 4-people-4-rooms and 6-people-3-rooms types?

In (人) means person; sil (室) means room.
As in an apartment, when you open the front door, there are three or four small rooms inside, and a small communal living room, bathroom and shower.
In the 4-people-4-rooms type, there are four single rooms.
In the 6-people-3-rooms type there are three double rooms.

How can I store my luggage when leaving?

Purpose: to help students on leaving by providing convenient storage for luggage
Important:
· A maximum of three boxes can be stored.
· Only boxed items can be stored. Fragile items and valuables (including computers) cannot be stored. (The dormitory cannot be held responsible for any damage, loss or fungus buildup that may occur during storage.)
· Items may be stored for a maximum of 7 days.

· Admission time: From 15:00 on the entrance day.
· Leaving time: Till 12:00 noon on the leaving day.
Days when people are both entering and leaving are very busy, so please follow this schedule.

How are rooms assigned?

· Semester→Vacation: Even though the semester and vacation room types are the same, all residents should change rooms.
· Vacation→Semester: If your chosen room type is the same in the vacation and semester and you apply foir early entrance then you can use the same room, but if you do not apply for early entrance then your room can be changed.
· Graduate students who choose the same room type (early entrance and extended residence) can use the same room but they may have to move due to construction, remodelling, and dormitory management schedule.

How do I choose my place in the room?

· In 2-people and 4-people rooms, discuss this with your roommate(s). (This will not be designated by the management office.)
· For 4-people-4-rooms and 6-people-3-rooms suites, there are different keys for the rooms and the access card differs by room number, so you must enter the designated room, and if there is any chance in rooms by agreement between roommates then you must notify the management office.

After application, failure to pay during the specified time will lead to automatic cancellation of your application.

What are the selection criteria for admission?
|

Applicants are selected based on their grades in the previous semester. If you have previously been denied admission to the dormitory because of warning due to low grades or because of penalties, or if you just have a warning due to low grades, then you will not be selected to live in the dormitory. Grade criteria can differ depending on time, room type, dormitory building.

What documents are required for admission?
|

1. Tuberculosis test result (chest x-ray)
If you have applied for a free health checkup during the semester, when you have the checkup at the university health centre the dormitory will be automatically notified of your attendance and of your results, so you do not need to submit any documents.
Those who have not applied for this health checkup should go to a public health centre or hospital themselves, have a chest x-ray taken, and submit the report on whether you have tuberculosis to the dormitory management office.
2. Certificate of change of address
All dormitory residents should change their registered address to their current room number in the dormitory. Afterwards, they should submit a copy of the residents certificate to the management office to prove that this has been completed.
3. PCR test result (COVID-19 test)
All dormitory residenns have to submit PCR test result(Only Negative results can be approved.)

How can I change my registered address?

· Application in person - for all students
Students should go to the nearest residents' centre (Yulcheon Residents' Centre) and submit their application. (Take your i.d. card so your new address can be written on the back.
· Online application - Not possible for those under 19, you will need an electronic bank certificate
Go to the government service portal called Minwon 24 (http://www.egov.go.kr) and register, then login → register your bank certificate (Issued by your bank) → apply in the changing address menu → it will be processed by the government office within 3 hours → if the application portal shows that your application has been completed then click the apply button on the residents certificate copy tab and print the certificate.
Online applicants can submit their residence certificate the following day. (If you have applied on a holiday then it will be after the holiday.)

Why do some people not have to change their address?
|

The following cases can cause financial loss to students.
You need to be cautious before changing your address.
1. Those receiving benefit based on the number of people in their household from your local ward office
2. Those who have bought a house and who have a duty to register themselves as living there will suffer disadvantage due to tax when they sell the property later.
3. Disabled people who buy a car, sharing ownership with a parent may encounter problems with tax exemption if they change their address.
4. Those receiving scholarship from their locality
5. Unmarried people with more than 5 million won per month income reported to the tax office and whose parents whose medical insurance is local (if all three conditions are satisfied)
6. Public service conscripts who have applied for a working period.
If you fall into one of these categories then you will need to submit the relevant documents and you will not be required to change your address.

Why must I choose the sleeping arrangement at the time of application?
|

The dormitory life is communal, and everyone has a different sleeping pattern. We try to put students with similar sleeping patterns together to avoid any problems which differences could cause.
